Recent ProjectBarbican Centre
The Barbican Centre is the largest development of its kind in Europe. It includes a residential estate, the Barbican Arts Centre, the Museum of London , the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Barbican public Library and the City of London School for Girls.
Owned and managed by the City of London Corporation it is a prominent example of British brutalist Architecture and is Grade II Listed. As part of a major re-waterproofing works across to the podium deck at Beech Gardens, Nigel Dunnett and the Landscape Agency were appointed to redesign planting to a significant area of public green space.
The commission involved extensive consultation with local residents and led to further detailed design that was subsequently implemented. Ian Luder, Chairman of City of London Corporation described the re-planting programme as ‘a garden for the future’. The Daily Telegraph described it as ‘an inspiring addition to the Square Mile’s portfolio of more than 200 green spaces’.
