Meet David HillEcology
David has a strong professional and personal interest in biodiversity conservation and has worked in the planning and development sector for over 25 years advising a range of organisations on the environmental impact of their projects across a range of sectors including minerals, ports, housing, energy/renewables, recreation, airports and water.
David is Chairman and founding owner of The Environment Bank which brought to the UK the concept of biodiversity compensation and environmental net gain. The Environment Bank brokers funding from developments to create new – and enhance existing – wildlife habitats at all scales.
David was a founding member of Natural England and its deputy chair from 2011 – 2016 and is currrently chairman of Plantlife the charity that promotes conservation of plants, as well as a Trustee of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. David was awarded a CBE in the 2015 Queens Birthday Honours for services to nature conservation and the economy.
David Hill and Patrick James have worked together on a number of projects over the past eight years with clients ranging from a new public open space and nature reserve for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club to Langwith, a new 5,000 home settlement to the east of York.
