The Styal Estate & Quarry Bank Mill, Cheshire
The Styal Estate and Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire is an internationally significant industrial heritage site owned by the National Trust. The Estate passed to the Trust in 1939 and is famed for its beauty and intriguing stories of the people who lived and worked here, illustrating the full breadth of society and industrial heritage.
The aim of the masterplan was to explore a series of ways to reveal some of the lesser known parts of the estate and strengthen the visitor experience through an understanding of the breadth of opportunity inherent within the landscape.
The masterplan exercise aims to celebrate and enhance the elements which collectively define the spirit and uniqueness of the Styal Estate and will enable visitors to read the landscape as it was originally designed by the Greg family in the 1800s.
