Wrest Park, Bedfordshire
The Landscape Agency was appointed to prepare a comprehensive Conservation Management Plan for this Grade I listed park and garden owned by English Heritage, and to work up an accompanying Masterplan related to 'creating a major new visitor attraction'. This formed part of a successful application to the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2010 for a £1.14m grant to support the £3.8m Revitalisation Project. We are now working on the implementation of this work.
Wrest Park is internationally significant in charting the evolution of landscape gardening over the last 300 years. The vision is to restore different parts of the garden to different periods, including almost 3 miles of 18 century pathways and the Victorian Italian and Rose Gardens. This enlightened approach respects the work of each generation that lived at Wrest.
